Born in 1979, Nina grew up in the
beautiful Dorset village of Sydling St. Nicholas. As one of a musical
family, at the age of twelve Nina played fiddle and sang in her family
Celtic Rock band 'The Sydling Stompers' along side her mum who played
accordion, Dad who sang, Brother 'Benny Wain' the ultimate fiddler and
a family friend who played guitar.

At seventeen Nina and brother Benny decided to form their own 'Celtic Rock' group and joined with two good friends to form 'Jigsaw'. Nina played guitar and sang lead vocals in this line up which successfully toured the UK and Europe, recorded an album and played venues and festivals including Kilburn Irish Festival and supported bands such as 'The Popes' and Shane McGowen. Nina parted with Jigsaw to explore new musical avenues singing in a Jazz band with the amazingly talented 'Paddy Milner' and in 1999 her new line up 'The Nina Wain Group' saw their first Asia tour. The band returned to the UK after their three month contract but shortly went back to play in Phuket, Thailand on a long term contract with a music venue. Nina was based in Phuket for the next seven years performing in various bands where she met 'Lo' playing bass whilst they were working together in a jazz funk band. Love was in the air aaaaaaaaah ..and Nina and Lo formed a band called 'The Mangolights' who performed in venues across Thailand and toured to Singapore in 2005. Nina returned to the UK in 2007 which saw the reforming of 'Jigsaw' and the forming of the 'Nina and Lo Garcia' duo. |
